Setting Up E-mail With Outlook 2000


  • During setup, the Outlook 2000 displays a Startup screen.
  • Click Next to begin



  • For home use, select Internet Only from the list of options
  • Click Next



  • Type the appropriate name in the Display name field
  • Click Next



  • Enter the appropriate Email address (username@shaw.ca)
  • Click Next



  • Set Incoming Mail (POP3 or IMAP) server to shawmail

  • Set Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server to shawmail
  • Click Next



  • The Account Name is displayed (characters before @ in Email address)
  • Type your Password (displays ******)
  • To prompt for a password each time Email is checked, remove checkmark from Remember password box (optional)
  • Remove checkmark from Secure Password Authentication (if applicable)
  • Click Next



  • Under Connection Type, select LAN



  • Click Finish




  • To Configure Settings After Installation

  • Click Tools, select Accounts



  • Click Add, choose Mail



  • Type the appropriate name in the Display name field
  • Click Next



  • Enter the Email address (username@shaw.ca)
  • Click Next



  • Set Incoming Mail (POP3 or IMAP) server to shawmail

  • Set Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server to shawmail

  • Click Next



  • The Account Name is displayed (Email address characters before @ symbol)
  • Type your Password (displayed ******)
  • To force a password request each time Email is checked, remove the checkmark from Remember password (optional)
  • Remove the checkmark in Secure Password Authentication (if applicable)
  • Click Next



  • Select Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN)
  • Click Next



  • Click Finish
